Miniature Steam Railway   [Top]

Cambridge Model Engineering Society would like to invite you to an afternoon of riding steam trains!

There will be real steam trains, refreshments, the opportunity to learn how steam engines work, and also how to prepare them for running, or of course you could just ride along and listen to the chuff chuff.

For anyone keen, a train driving experience is also available to live that childhood dream...

Cost: £4,
Max Number: 12 (Current Number: 5)
Further info: Cambridge Model Engineering Society

Punt Joust   [Top]

Try your hand at the ancient (well, it's been going on for a while) CUSAGC punt joust. The aim? To charge at the opposition (propelled by a skilled punter) and knock them into the water with the jousting pole. Then, tradition demands that you also jump in... what's not to like?

Bring towel and change of clothes - if you don't get wet, something's gone wrong!

PLEASE NOTE: No one obviously under the influence of alcohol will be allowed on the water. Activity leaders' decision is final.

Cost: £5,
Max Number: 20 (Current Number: 20)

Punt Joust Spectating (aka Afternoon Off)   [Top]

Sit on the banks of the Cam, lazily drinking Pimms and watching people getting knocked into the river... what more could you want from an afternoon?

Cost: £0,
Max Number: 999 (Current Number: 36)

Punting   [Top]

You haven't been to Cambridge till you've been on a punt, so take this opportunity to have a relaxed tour of the famous 'Backs' and see many of the colleges, for a small fraction of the price the punt touts would charge! You'll also get a guided tour, but beware, there's a long-running tradition of making up spurious historical facts to feed tourists! There may also be a chance to learn to punt yourself.

PLEASE NOTE: No one obviously under the influence of alcohol will be allowed on the water. Activity leaders' decision is final. It's very unlikely that you'll end up in the water, but if you want to have a go at punting we advise you consider it as a possibility!

Cost: £5,
Max Number: 16 (Current Number: 15)

Punting 2   [Top]

Exactly as above, but now there's the opportunity for another horde to descend on the punts.

PLEASE NOTE: No one obviously under the influence of alcohol will be allowed on the water. Activity leaders' decision is final. It's very unlikely that you'll end up in the water, but if you want to have a go at punting we advise you consider it as a possibility!

Cost: £5,
Max Number: 16 (Current Number: 16)
